Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY, born on 17 March 1998) is professionally known as Grimes is a Canadian artist, singer, writer, and record producer. [2][3] Her early work was described as moving to "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influences from electronic music, hip hop, as well as rock. Her songs often incorporate science-fiction as well as feminist themes in the lyrics. Five studio albums have been issued by her. Grimes was raised in Vancouver in the early 1990s, before moving to Montreal in 2000. Grimes started releasing her singles in the early 2000s. The albums released were through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes as well as Halfaxa in the year 2010. After that, she was signed to 4AD and gained notoriety with the release of her third album, Visions, in 2012. Visions features the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" The album was also nominated for The Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. The album that she released as her fourth studio effort Art Angels was released in the year 2015. The album received high marks from critics and many journals voted it as the top album. In 2020, she dropped Miss Anthropocene (her fifth studio album). Grimes is an official judge of Alter Ego, a music contest.
